Steel Piers Foundation Repair

Steel piers stabilize and raise the foundation of your home or business while helping prevent further settlement. Here is how they work.

Steel piers are used to stabilize and raise the foundation of your home or business while helping prevent further settlement. Other methods still rely on the soil for support.

Steel piers are best suited for heavier one and two story homes as well as office buildings, and they can be installed into deeper soils. After a minimal amount of excavation, a heavy-duty steel bracket is placed below the load beam of the foundation. Then a steel pier is hydraulically driven through the bracket and through the soil down to firm bearing to create new foundation support. Adjustments are made until the piers support your structure at its maximum practical level. When the foundation is stabilized, the steel pier is welded to the bracket.

Usually after foundation stabilization, you are able to open and close windows and doors that used to stick. You may also be able to repair cracks in walls, and your furniture will sit level.

Steel push piers are one of the strongest stabilization methods available. They use the weight of your home and the resulting resistance to deliver support, and they do not use concrete. Once the job is complete, the installation holes are refilled and the landscape is restored, which leaves no visible evidence of piers and minimal disruption.
